Pretty Little Pouch Swap

16 April 2012

I finished my project for the Pretty Little Pouch Swap!  This round was a little bit more difficult for me.  I didn't have a whole lot of information to go off of as far as my partner goes.  I'm not totally sure about what I made but I know I would love it!

I used a tutorial from Terrabyte Farm.  It was such an easy to follow tutorial and I love the size of pouch that it makes!  I will send some extra goodies with this lovely.  Hopefully my partner will be pleased.

Liebster Blog Award!!!

15 April 2012

My amazing friend Diane, of from blank pages ...., was super kind and awarded me the Liebster Blog Award!  Thank you so much Diane!

I was so happy for Diane when I saw that she had been chosen.  She has such an amazing blog and she produces some amazing projects!  As I kept reading her post I realized that she had awarded the same award to me!   I felt so undeserving but I was super excited nonetheless.

So for those of you who haven't heard of this wonderful award, would you like to know what it is??
The Liebster award (German for favorite) is for bloggers with 200 followers or less. As a recipient of the award, you have the chance to thank and link back to the blogger who gave it to you as well as pass it along to five other deserving blogs.

I started blogging less than a year ago... it was a few months after my sewing/quilting adventures had started.  I didn't really have much to write about, I still feel like that sometimes. :)  Although I still don't know what in the world I am doing, it has been so much fun.  I am still figuring out exactly what kind of style I prefer.  I still am learning new things all the time.  And I still have my fair share of failures (like my first attempt at free motion quilting this evening). I've really gotten to know so many great people and have really enjoyed the journey. :)

Now what?!

Liebster Conventions:
1. Thank your award presenter on your blog and link back to him/her.
2. Copy and paste the award to your blog.
3. Present the Liebster Award to 5 blogs that you think deserve to be recognized.
4. Let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.
5. Have faith that your followers will spread the love too!

There are so many blogs that I really love reading out there. Here are five that are on my daily reading list! I think these gals are super fantastic!

1. Julie of Jolie Maxtin - She is awesome! You have to go check out her blog!
2. Heidi of Fabric Mutt
3. Sarah of Bluprint Textiles
4. Annaliese of The Pewter Acorn

All of these ladies are so talented and I could go on and on about them.

Now go spread the blog lovin' and stop by and say hi! :)
Thanks again Diane!

Second Quarter Finish-a-Long

11 April 2012

I took part in Rhonda's Finish-A-Long last quarter and I was able to finish so many projects that I thought I would link up again for the second quarter!  I have four projects right now that I really need to finish.  Have you ever had a project that you aren't super excited about finishing?  Well these projects fall under that category for me.  Every time I walk by them I can hear them taunting me!  So it's time to make them disappear!

My first project is a Fox Trails baby quilt.  All it needs is binding!

My second project is a Hello Luscious baby quilt.  It needs to be quilted and it needs binding.

My third project is a Little Apples baby quilt.  It needs to be quilted and it needs binding.

My fourth project is a Domestic Bliss baby quilt.  It needs to be quilted and it needs binding.

So there you have it.  Four projects that I desperately want to finish so that I can start some fun things!

Another project checked off my list!

10 April 2012

I know it's been a little quiet around here lately.  Julie and I have been hard at work organizing the Modern She Made Swap.  The majority of the work is done now so hopefully I will be able to make my way back to my sewing machine soon!

Over the past 6 months I have been making quilts for all 5 of my nieces and nephews.  I finally finished number 5!  This quilt is for my 15 year old nephew, Seth.  Quilts aren't usually something that 15 year old boys get super excited about so I wanted to make something that maybe he would at least appreciate.  I kept the design modern and geometric.

My husband did a great job helping me pick out a "manly" color scheme.  Plus these colors match Seth's room.  Hopefully he will get some good use out of it!

I went with straight line quilting for this quilt for two reasons.  The first reason being I felt straight line quilting was the best fit for this design.  And the second reason is that I am terrified of free motion quilting.  :)

After I get a label put on this monster I will be sending it to it's new home!

I will be linking up with:

WhoooHooooo My First Feature!

03 April 2012

The wonderful AnneMarie over at GenXQuilters has featured me for this months, "First Quilts on the First".  This is pretty exciting for a newbie like me!  I almost don't believe it!

You can check the feature out here.

Thank you so much AnneMarie for this opportunity!

It's Time to Sign Up!!!

01 April 2012

Sign-ups are now open for the Modern She Made Swap!

Sign ups began today, April 1st and end April 6th or whenever we reach 100 participants, whichever comes first. So make sure you sign up quickly!

Once you comment in the official sign up thread and fill out the questionnaire, the swap mamas will then review your photostream and make sure you are in good standing in your previous swaps!

After you turn in your questionnaire, start posting your inspiration mosaics. Feel free to add notes to certain pictures to give your partner a little idea of what you like!  We have posted instructions in a discussion thread if you need help with creating your mosaic.

For this swap you will be making one large item for your partner. For example, a mini quilt, a set of placemats, a sewing machine cover, a pillow cover .... I think you get the idea! The only stipulation is that you have to incorporate a circle into the project somewhere. Whether it be by using appliqued circles, quilting in a circular pattern, or making your project in the shape of a circle. The circle can be a big part of your design or a tiny part. The possibilities are endless.  So come on over and join in the fun!!!  This is going to be a great swap!
