Progress!

12 March 2012

Amy at Amy's Creative Side is hosting another One Thing, One Week Challenge and this week my goal was to cut the fabric for my nephews quilt and get the top pieced together.  I have made a quilt for 4 of my 5 nieces and nephews, and I am working on my last quilt for my 16 year old nephew.  I wanted to make a quilt that would be modern and that a 16 year old guy might be able to appreciate.  So I drew up a design and had my hubby help me pick out "manly" colors.  And here is the finished quilt top!

Sorry for the horrible picture, I tried to take pictures outside but it was super windy!  I'm sure my neighbors got a good laugh watching me chase the quilt top across my yard.

Now I need to figure out how to quilt this monster.  I am leaning toward some sort of geometric pattern or straight line quilting.  What are your thoughts?  Any suggestions?

Don't forget there is still time to have a chance at the giveaway ... check it out here.

  1. I think I've seen a kind of linking squares quilt motif that would look really nice on this. Very manly and modern!

  2. I think the color choices are perfect for a 16 year old boy. I would go with straight line quilting but I am sure whatever you choose will look great!

  5. Ohh I love this quilt, very manly indeed. I have just come up with a new FMQ design that makes your quilting look like puzzle pieces and have blogged about it for WIP Wednesday- you should check it out, I think it would look really cool on your quilt. If I get enough interest I will be posting a tutorial on how to do it next Wednesday.

  9. Love those colors! Also, I'm biased because I really like the look of straight-line quilting (even though my lines aren't always that straight). So... yeah, I think it would look amazing with straight-line quilting. :P

Can't wait to see how it turns out. Thanks for sharing!
